Artur Ramon Art

Antique, modern and contemporary art.

Founded in 1911 as antique experts, Artur Ramon Art is one of the oldest art galleries in Barcelona. Painting and drawing, from ancient to contemporary art are the main fields in which it works, without disregarding the decorative arts. Various disciplines define the gallery as experts in ancient art: sculpture, ceramics, engraving, furniture, glass and silver. The challenge of the fourth generation of antique experts, formed by Artur and Mònica Ramon Navarro, and with the support of Artur Ramon Picas, is to present their antiques with a contemporary feel.

The gallery consists of two different areas that complement each other: the Espai d’Art (Art Space,) and the private art gallery.

With access to the street, the Espai d’Art is a recovered industrial warehouse where exhibitions take place. In collaboration with contemporary artists and curators, ancient art is explored in search of a new way of explaining the antiquarian trade. Analogies, interventions, dialogues, conferences and presentations linked to art and contemporary culture dynamically complement the usual activity of the art gallery in Barcelona.

The private art gallery, located on the first floor, is a space for the management of painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and high-quality furniture, designed to stimulate public and private collecting. Conceived as a center for the management and advice of works of art, a research space that has a library of more than 6,000 volumes dedicated to all disciplines. Occasionally, the most outstanding works from the gallery’s collection and the latest acquisitions are also exhibited.

Center for the study and management of art

Specialisation and internationalisation are the two main concepts of Artur Ramon Art. Searching for unpublished pieces and recovering lost identities through the best specialists in each subject, who publish their research in catalogues. This art gallery in Barcelona is also a centre for the study and management of museum-quality works of art and offers collectors advice on the appraisal of works of art.

Artur Ramon Art has a regular presence in the main fairs in the world dedicated to antiques, drawing and ancient and modern painting. It participates in TEFAF Maastricht and the Salon du Dessin in Paris, and also exhibits at other international fairs, such as Master Drawings in New York and Gabinete Art Fair in Madrid.
