Current figurative art, established and emerging artists.

Since it opened its doors, Subex Gallery has pursued the same objective: to promote figurative art from established artists whilst supporting new talent. Victòria Salom, who has a PhD in art history and has been owner of the gallery since 1973, decided to go against the trends and give new realism the value it deserved; a style that throughout the twentieth century had been relegated to the background, due to the omnipresence of abstract art.

During these four decades, Subex has provided an exhibition space for more than one hundred artists.

The result of the relationship established between Subex and it’s respective artists has resulted in success for both parties. On the one hand, Subex has become one of the reference figurative art galleries in Barcelona and throughout Catalonia, while artists such as José Berruezo, Jorge Duarte, Comes Busquets or Joan Pujol have become established artists during their time at the gallery.

Currently, Subex begins a new stage. Since October 2015, the gallery has been offering a series of painting courses taught by artists who regularly exhibit.

Subex has a privileged geographical location. Located in the heart of Barcelona, specifically on Calle Mallorca, between two of the most important streets in Barcelona: Passeig de Gràcia and Rambla Cataluña, and surrounded by emblematic works by Gaudí such as La Pedrera or Casa Batlló.
