Tramuntana

There is a moment in summer when the light seems to remember itself. The days stretch out more slowly, as if they knew they would soon have to draw back in, and in the afternoons the air still holds the weight of heat, but begins to lose its certainty. Between persistence and farewell, a final few days appear, carrying something of ripe fruit, of skin that peels away, of sand cooling beneath the feet. They announce no ending, and yet they make us look differently at what, until then, had seemed inexhaustible.

It is here that Ivan’s paintings, drawings and ceramics find an unexpected affinity. In this small space, the pieces are not offered as a closed sequence, but as fragments of a single pulse, of a single temperature. Each work seems to hold on to a scene that never quite explains itself: a gesture or a form that persists as the light begins to soften, without fully revealing where it comes from or where it is going.

There is something of summer in this insistence, in this time that advances little by little. The pieces enter into dialogue with the children running through the streets, with the ice creams that melt faster than a desire would last, and with the grandparents who watch the world without moving from their corner. And, above all, with the last melon of the holidays, shared in irregular slices on an afternoon that already smells of autumn. That melon which is not the sweetest of all, nor the most perfect, but which has something of the others: the moisture of the first, the ripeness of the second, the awareness that it will be the last.

This collection of pieces also shares the rhythm of summer loves: intense, fleeting encounters without great artifice, which do not promise eternity but remain etched forever. To look at them is, perhaps, a way of inhabiting this interval. Colours become traces; forms suggest; ceramics preserve the gesture of the hand; drawing fixes a fragile line; and painting stops time in order to make its movement visible.

And perhaps this is what remains of the final days of interval: not an exact image, nor a date, nor a complete memory, but an intensity that returns from time to time. It makes itself present when the light changes and something — a figure, a texture, a crack, a shadow — reminds us that time, too, can be shaped.

Outside, summer ends slowly. Inside, the forms continue to breathe.
