Leonor Fini

8 March — 15 April, 2023

Leonor Fini, (1907-1996)

Leonor Fini, was an Argentine-Italian painter, who developed a large part of her artistic career in France.
Associated (but not) with the Surrealist movement, Fini’s self-portraits and mythological paintings focused on eroticism and dreams:
“Paintings, like dreams, have a life of their own and I have always painted largely as a dream,” she once said.
In 1931, the artist moved to Paris, where she became friends with Giorgio de Chirico, Leonora Carrington and Max Ernst, whose lover she was.
Her lifestyle was always very eccentric and she was the subject of poems and many photographs during her life (Henri Cartier-Bresson photographed her nude).
Today, the artist’s works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Tate Modern in London, among others.
