Pilarin Bayes | Les 7 meravelles del món antic, les noves del món i les de Catalunya triades per la Pilarín
8 April — 8 June, 2021
From the 8th of April you can visit an original exhibition that Pilarín Bayés has prepared to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Sala Rusiñol art gallery in Sant Cugat.
Under the title “THE 7 WONDERS OF THE ANCIENT WORLD, the new wonders of the world, and the wonders of Catalonia chosen by Pilarín” the visitor will take an interesting geographical and historical journey seen from the artist’s personal point of view.
Born in Vic in 1941, in the midst of Franco’s regime, Pilarín studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where she was discovered by the pedagogue Marta Mata, who introduced her to the professional world.
In 1964 she published her first children’s story, Mi gorrión, with Editorial La Galera, and began to collaborate with the magazine Cavall Fort. From the beginning until now, Pilarín has published more than 920 books, some translated into eight languages.
In 1991 the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded her the Creu de Sant Jordi and, in April 2011, Vic awarded her the city’s Gold Medal.
